Tomatoes
Beefsteak, Hybrid Tomatoes ($7/pot)
Determinate tomatoes have a more bush like, shorter growth habit. Indeterminate tomato grow taller, and have a longer harvest window. Both require staking, but Indeterminates will require 5 foot stakes, and Determinates require only a 3-4 foot stake.
New Girl - Determinate. 62 days.
Long-time classic favorite The "New Girl" tomato is a popular, early-producing, indeterminate hybrid known for its excellent flavor (sweet with balanced acidity), disease resistance (better than 'Early Girl'), and reliable yields of 4-6 ounce, bright red fruits, making it great for fresh eating and salads, especially in cooler climates
Jet Star – Determinate. 70 Days.
Prolific producer of big, globe-shaped fruits that ripen all the way through. Excellent flavor with low acidity. Nice, compact habit. Indeterminate.
Galahad - Determinate. 72 Days. Widely adapted, flavorful beefsteak.
Galahad boasts fantastic flavor and an impressive disease resistance profile, which extends much-needed protection to regions ranging from the Midwest to the Deep South. Early maturity and resistance to early blight make Galahad a strong contender in Vermont!
Big Beef - Indeterminate. 80 days. A tried and True producer of big, melt in your mouth red beefsteak tomatoes. A great disease resistance plant, with high yields, and classic tomato flavor.
Paste/Sauce Tomatoes ($7/pot)
San Marzano - 85 days. Indeterminate. Heirloom!
Rich, complex flavor and strong aroma!
Savor the taste of real old-fashioned tomato richness, the kind you can smell before you even bite into it! San Marzano organic captures that bygone flavor and aroma in every large, plump, delicious 4½- to 5-ounce plum tomato.
Perfect for saucing, this classic Italian variety is juicy yet meaty.
Speckled Roman - 85 Days. Indeterminate.
Tomato-lovers everywhere are tipping their caps to John Swenson, who developed this cross of Antique Roman and Banana Legs. Orange-red, 5" long fruits are a speckled paste-type, marked by irregular yellow stripes. Meaty fruits have hearty, real tomato flavor and almost no seeds.
Heirloom Tomatoes ($7/pot)
Brandywine – Indeterminate. 80 days.
The most popular heirloom vegetable! A favorite of many gardeners, large fruit with superb flavor. A great potato-leafed variety from 1885! Beautiful pink fruit up to 1½ lbs. each!
Cherokee Purple - Indeterminate. 80 days.
An old Cherokee Indian heirloom, pre-1890 variety; beautiful, deep, dusky purple-pink color, superb, sweet flavor, and very-large-sized fruit. Try this one for real old-time tomato flavor. Our favorite dark tomato and one of our bestselling varieties.
Lillian's Yellow - Indeterminate. 90 days.
Magnificent, clear-yellow, globe-shaped fruits of the beefsteak-type, weighing up to 16 oz. each. Mild flesh is so rich in flavor, it actually has a creamy taste on the tongue. Vigorous, potato-leaved plants are unique in such a large-fruited, yellow variety, and provide cover for heavy yields. Local heirloom from Manchester, Tennessee.
Striped German - Indeterminate. 78 days.
The Striped German Tomato is a beautiful large sliced variety with very attractive, brilliant and bright orange-marbled stripes! The flat, medium to large, variably ribbed-shoulder tomatoes are shaded yellow and red. The marbled interior of this variety looks absolutely beautiful sliced! The complex, fruity flavor and smooth texture makes the Striped German Tomato a farm favorite
Aunt Ruby's German Green - Indeterminate. 85 days. (one of Lisa's favs!)
Heirloom beefsteak with a deliciously sweet flavor enhanced by a spicy undertone. Globe-shaped 12 to 16 oz. fruits have light green, smooth skins at maturity and just a hint of yellow. Flesh is green blushed with pink, meaty and flavorful. Makes interesting juice! Intermediate resistance to Late Blight. Indeterminate.
Box Car Willie - Indeterminate. 80 days.
We predict this old-timer might become your main crop variety. Prolific yields of smooth, reddish-orange fruits average 10 to 16 oz. each. With an old-fashioned flavor you'll remember from childhood, these high-yielding, multi-use tomatoes will last throughout the season and are ideal for canning, freezing or for home-cooked meals. Crack resistant. Indeterminate.
Cherry Tomatoes ($7/pot)
Super Sweet 100 – Indeterminate. 75 days.
Lives up to its name! Super sweet 100 is a reliable cherry tomato with prolific yields of great tasting, 15-20 gm. fruits produced in large clusters. Widely adapted. High resistance to fusarium wilt and verticillium wilt.
Mexico Midget – Indeterminate. 70 days.
A prolific currant variety yielding heaps of dime-sized cherry tomatoes throughout the growing season. Ruby red fruits are super-sweet with a deep tomato flavor. Tiny tomatoes grow in elegant clusters. Plan for sprawling vines.
Sungold – Indeterminate. 70 days.
The sweetest and earliest cherry tomato! A customer favorite! Sungold ripens early to a golden orange, ready to harvest throughout the summer. These extra-sweet tomatoes stay firmer longer than other cherry varieties and will be ready to harvest twice a week once they begin producing fruit.
Matt's Wild Cherry - Indeterminate. 75 days.
These small cherry tomatoes are deep-red, tender, smooth, and full-flavored with a high sugar content. Though the flavor is superior, it doesn't yield as well as modern varieties, and the fruits are soft. Fantastic in salsa and for fresh eating. Some resistance to early blight and late blight. These have become a plant sale favorite!
