The traditional CSA share and it runs from early June through mid-March. 30 pick-ups. After Thanksgiving the pickups are every other week. The item amounts will be double.
Main Season Share:
An abbreviated CSA share and it runs from June 5th through November 16th.
An abbreviated CSA share and it runs from the first week of December through the last week in February. Runs for 16 weeks, pickups every other week, seven pickups total.
WHAT IS AN ITEM? Item amounts are by the bunch, by the pound, by the piece, or by the head. EXAMPLE: 1 head lettuce, 1 pound tomatoes, 1 bunch carrots, 1 pound onions, 1 head garlic, 1 melon, or one head cabbage.
WHAT SIZE SHARE SHOULD I GET? A small share is suited for a single person or couple; A medium share suits a single person who eats a lot of veggies or a couple; A large share is suited for a couple that cooks nightly and brings leftovers to works for lunch, or a family. If you follow the recommended daily vegetable intake, 1 person should eat 6 to 8 items PER WEEK. Thus, a small share is great for 1 person.
PICK YOUR OWN! CSA members get access to pick your own crops on the farm! Most of the pick your own crops are "free items". Strawberries, peas, and cherry tomatoes are crops that do count as an item. Flowers, green beans, basil, parsley, and other herbs are "free items" (you get these in addition to your CSA share), but these do have a recommended quantity to ensure there is enough for all. Pick your won hours are during Friday and Saturday pick up times.
